Operation You Are Not Alone is a grassroots campaign aimed at increasing awareness about Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and supporting those affected by it. The mission encourages individuals around the world to participate in a simple yet powerful act:holding up a sign with the message “You are not alone.” This campaign seeks to highlight the importance of community support, reduce stigma, and remind those suffering from PTSD that help is available and that they have a network of support.
This video will not only be to help veterans, first responders, medical professionals or dispatchers – it will be for anyone going through mental health struggles, 365 days a year. I started this mission because I have battled PTSD for almost 30 years and often wondered if anyone cared. This video will let people know that there are those that care. Every time I get 100 photos, I’ll launch a new video on YouTube.
How to Participate:
- 1. Create the Sign: Participants are encouraged to make their own sign stating, “You are not alone.”
- 2. Capture the Moment: Take a photo or video of yourself holding the sign. This can be done individually or in groups, at home, in public spaces, or during events. The backdrop could vary from personal spaces to iconic locations for added impact.
- 3. Submit Your Contribution: Photos and videos should be sent to a youarenotalone@intheheartoftheforest.com
- 4. Spread the Word: Encourage friends, family, and social media followers to participate or share the campaign to amplify the message.
- 5. Subscribe to our YouTube channel

YouTube Compilation: All submissions will be compiled into a YouTube video series. Each video will feature photos and stories from around the globe, showcasing the breadth of support for those with PTSD. This series will be released all through the year and featured on the “In the Heart of the Forest” YouTube page. The videos will be launched every time we reach 100 photos so that when people are struggling and thinking no one cares, they’ll see 100 people that do.
Operation You Are Not Alone stands as a testament to the power of community and shared human experience in combating the isolation that often accompanies PTSD. Through this initiative, we aim to foster a global community of support, understanding, and encouragement, making it clear that no one must face their struggles alone. The campaign will not just be a one-time event but part of an ongoing effort to keep the conversation about mental health open, with periodic calls for new submissions.
Where to find the videos :

This mission was started after I started to receive powerful reviews of my book “In the Heart of the Forest,” which is for anyone with PTSD, but is especially designed to help parents with PTSD relate to their kids about it.
